“Passports for Life” – is an exhibition of the Pilecki Institute, which describes the history of Polish diplomats and Jewish activists in Switzerland. Previously, Lithuanians and Czechs, among others, could see it. From December 17, it will be available at the Holocaust Museum LA.
The exhibition entitled “Passports for Life”, consisting of three exhibition tables, will present the history of a group of Polish diplomats who issued false passports of neutral Latin American states for over 3.6 thousand threatened with extermination Jews from ghettos in Poland and other countries. Thanks to this, many of them managed to avoid being sent to death camps.
The exhibition will show, among others, copies of false Latin American passports issued by diplomats, their biographies, and a testimony of one of the Jews they saved. It will be in the section of the museum dedicated to the Righteous Among the Nations, incl. Irena Sendler.
“The history of the Ładoś group is not yet widely known here. This event is to change that, we are part of the educational activities of the Holocaust Museum by presenting this special story,” said Paweł Lickiewicz, the press spokesman of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland.
