On Sunday, October 17, on the 172nd anniversary of the death of Fryderyk Chopin and in connection with the Chopin Competition, a tram will be launched on the streets of Warsaw, in which the music of this outstanding composer will be played live. Travel on the special line will be free.
“The third stage of the 18th edition of the Chopin Competition is underway. Many events related to the composer are taking place in the city under the slogan +In Warsaw everything plays Chopin+. On Sunday, a Chopin tram with live music will be running in Warsaw,” informed the Capital City Hall.
The music tram will run from 11 AM to 5 PM in the loop. The route leads from Narutowicza Square through Zawiszy Square, Jerozolimskie Ave, Poniatowski Bridge, Washington roundabout, Zieleniecka Ave, Targowa, Jagiellońska, Starzyńskiego roundabout, Gdański Bridge, Radosława roundabout, Okopowa, Towarowa, Zawiszy Square to Narutowicza Square.
“Anyone can get on the tram and have a nice journey listening to Chopin’s music. You do not need to validate the ticket,” said Maciej Dutkiewicz, spokesman for Warsaw Trams in an interview with the Polish Press Agency.
The City Hall also reminds us that “there are 15 multimedia Chopin benches in Warsaw”. After pressing a button, you can listen to one of Chopin’s compositions, and from the description, you can find out why the bench is situated in front of the object and what was its relationship with the composer.
