Independence March held by the state. Gliński: The holiday should be spent with dignity

The decision of the head of the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression to grant formal status to the March of Independence is very responsible, announced Piotr Gliński, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture and National Heritage. I hope this decision will calm the situation, he added.

The head of the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression, Jan Józef Kasprzyk in a special statement addressed to the media, announced that the Independence March would have a formal status.

“This is a very responsible decision, expected in some sense, and I hope that this decision will calm down the situation that someone tried – not for the first time – to change into a tense one,” Piotr Gliński told the Polish Press Agency.

“Independence Day should be a celebration spent with dignity, as Poles wish, and many people have been participating in this march for years. It should be carried out in peaceful conditions, also following the law,” stressed the Deputy Prime Minister.
