Almost 10 thousand times more illegal attempts to cross the Polish-Belarusian border in 2021 were recorded by the Border Guard, compared to 2018. The services presented data summarising the last 4 years in this context. According to Stanisław Żaryn, they show that the migration route from Belarus to Poland is artificial.
The increase in illegal attempts to cross the Polish-Belarusian border began in August 2021. At that time, the Border Guard recorded 3,500 such incidents. This was followed by 7.7 thousand in September, 17.5 thousand in October, 8.9 thousand in November and 1.7 thousand in December.
Today the Border Guard published data summarizing the last 4 years in this context. The number of attempted illegal border crossings from 2018 is incomparable to last year.

Stanisław Żaryn commented on the BG’s summary on Twitter. According to the Minister Coordinator of Special Services, the list clearly shows that the migration route from Belarus to Poland was artificially created.
“Border Guard data show that the migration route from Belarus to Poland is artificial. Nearly 40,000 illegal border-crossing attempts in 2021. In 2020 – just under 130.”In 2021, Poland became the target of a hybrid operation using the illegal migration route,” Żaryn writes.
The pressure on Poland from Belarus is constantly felt. Only since the beginning of this year, more people have tried to cross the Polish-Belarusian border illegally than in 2018 and 2019 combined. According to the Border Guard, as of Jan. 1. 64 people committed it.
