Bayern Munich wants to extend Robert Lewandowski’s contract, but are also considering a pay cut for the 33-year-old striker. It is difficult to suppose that such a proposal would please the best footballer in the world.
Robert Lewandowski is bound to Bayern Munich by a contract valid until 2023. This means that if the German champion would like to make money on the sale of the best player of the year in the FIFA Award, they should decide to transfer the striker already after this season. Later, the possibility of the captain of the White and Reds changing clubs for free will become more and more real.
According to “Sport-Bild”, various options are being considered at Sabener Strasse, and whether Lewandowski will stay in Bavaria is still uncertain. On the one hand, the Germans are delighted with the performance of the Pole, who – despite being 33 years old – is in top form and beating new shooting records. “Lewy” in the last round of the Bundesliga reached – as the second man in history after the legendary Gerd Mueller – the limit of 300 goals in this competition. On the other hand, Bayern’s owners are known to watch every Eurocent carefully before spending it.
The German champion has two offers on the table for the footballer at the moment. Lewandowski could keep his current salary if he extends his contract by one year. A longer contract would already involve a pay cut. Paris Saint Germain or Premier League clubs are unlikely to have a problem outbidding this offer. Lewandowski’s transfer, which his agent Pini Zahavi has been pushing for some time, is therefore becoming more real than ever in recent seasons.
