Trzaskowski’s Victory Would Mean Full Power for Tusk and a Political Monopoly

“A catastrophe for Poland,” “a complete lack of credibility,” “full power for Tusk”—this is how Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik, Member of the European Parliament representing the Confederation party, assessed the potential victory of Rafał Trzaskowski in the upcoming presidential election. In an interview with Ewa Bugała on Telewizja Republika, she did not mince words, directing sharp criticism toward both Trzaskowski and Szymon Hołownia.

Close Ties and “One-Man Rule by Tusk”

Zajączkowska-Hernik warned that a victory for the Civic Coalition’s candidate in the forthcoming presidential election would not simply represent a change in occupancy of the Presidential Palace, but rather the political consolidation of power under one governing structure.

“If Rafał Trzaskowski wins the election, it will mean one-man rule by Donald Tusk. I call that a catastrophe for Poland (…). I cannot imagine Trzaskowski winning, the system being sealed off, and Donald Tusk gaining full power,”

the MEP emphasized.

According to her, Trzaskowski lacks political autonomy, and his actions are subordinated to the Prime Minister. She cautioned against the centralization of power, which she believes threatens democratic balance.

Lack of Credibility and Inconsistent Views

The KO (Civic Coalition) candidate was also criticized for a lack of political consistency and credibility. When asked who she considered the biggest hypocrite in the election campaign, she unequivocally named Rafał Trzaskowski.

“Rafał Trzaskowski takes the lead here—he is capable of changing his views virtually overnight. If the campaign lasted any longer, he might even join the Independence March. He is a completely unreliable politician, backed by Donald Tusk,”

she declared.

According to the Confederation politician, it is precisely this volatility and readiness to rapidly adapt to changing circumstances that disqualify Trzaskowski as a candidate for the presidency.

Controversies Surrounding Trzaskowski’s Campaign Team

The program Ewa Bugała: Everything Is Clear also raised the issue of Michał Marcinkiewicz, a Trzaskowski campaign staffer, whose correspondence suggests possible drug use during Campus Polska.

“If this information proves to be true, then Rafał Trzaskowski should take action against such an individual (…). If he surrounds himself with such people, it reflects on him,”

the MEP commented.

The matter raises concerns about personnel standards within the KO campaign team and the atmosphere surrounding political events organized by Trzaskowski’s supporters.

Hołownia “Emotionally Unstable”

Zajączkowska-Hernik also commented on the conduct of Sejm Marshal Szymon Hołownia, who in recent weeks has repeatedly attacked Sławomir Mentzen.

“Szymon Hołownia is unfit to be president. He is emotionally incapable of withstanding the pressure of this campaign,”

she said bluntly.

This remark fits within a broader wave of criticism directed at the Marshal of the Sejm.
