Eight scientists working in Polish research centers were among 397 winners of Starting Grant 2021 – prestigious grants awarded by the European Research Council (ERC). This is a record edition for Poland.
Since 2007 the European Research Council has awarded Starting Grants 27 times to researchers affiliated with Polish centers. Eight people have just joined the ranks of prestigious grant winners. “This is a record edition for Poland,” wrote the National Science Center in a message sent to PAP.
The ERC press office reported that 4,000 applications were received in this edition. Grant funding, according to the organization’s calculations, will create 2,000 jobs for postdoctoral researchers, doctoral students, and other administrative staff.
