The 3Seas Local Government Congress is set to happen on May 16-17, 2023 in Lublin, and its 3rd edition is fast approaching. This year, attendees can expect a bigger and more diverse program with numerous parallel events planned in the Lublin Conference Centre alongside the official opening and main discussion panels, which have been relocated to the Meeting of Cultures Centre.
This annual meeting in Lublin, the capital of Lublin Voivodeship, draws representatives from government and local government administration, the scientific sector, and businesses from 12 member states of the Three Seas Initiative (TSI), including Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Hungary. In addition, strategic partners such as the European Union, the United States, and Germany, as well as partner regions from Central and Eastern Europe, will also be in attendance. This year’s edition is once again under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda, who was instrumental in creating the local government cooperation format. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to connect with key players in the international economic arena!
The upcoming 3Seas Local Government Congress promises to tackle these vital issues head-on, with a special focus on the challenges facing the TSI in its cooperation with Ukraine. The organizers have made it clear that they are determined to find solutions to complete the missing rail links of the TEN-T network, and they will also be taking stock of the many exciting projects that have been implemented on the borders of European Union countries (including Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania) with Ukraine. With so much at stake, this promises to be an unmissable event for anyone invested in the future of the region.
The Congress is an excellent venue for a lively geopolitical discussion, especially at a time when our neighbours have been at war for a year. It is also an opportunity to discuss the financial instruments needed to rebuild the Ukrainian state after the end of hostilities.
At this year’s event, there will be a special emphasis on the role of young people. Universities from different corners of Europe will be invited to participate. A completely new accompanying event will be the – Eastern Forum of Young Leaders. As the organisers emphasise – the active participation of young people will allow new areas of the Initiative to be noticed.
During the last editions of the Initiative, the individual regions of the Initiative signed the Lublin Declaration on the creation of the TSI Regions Network, which is a tool for conducting and establishing regular contacts and undertaking joint projects between interested local governments. To date, 22 regions from 6 countries have declared their membership of the Network.
Every year, the Congress will be accompanied by an Economic Forum, which is intended to comprehensively support the offer of SMEs from the Lubelskie Voivodeship, create appropriate conditions for the development of enterprises and enable international cooperation. The Forum will include thematic seminars in the field of digitisation or innovation, as well as B2B meetings.
We invite you to register for the event via the Congress website: www.congress.lubelskie.pl.
The event is held under the media patronage of Strefa Wolnego Słowa.
