In a letter to the President of the European Council Charles Michel, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and the Head of EU Diplomacy Josep Borrell, 45 Members of different political groups in the European Parliament have called for frozen Russian assets to be used for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.
“It is clear that Ukraine deserves the full solidarity and assistance of the international community in the reconstruction of the country after the victorious war, but the aggressor should pay for the crimes and destruction first,” the letter says.
“The money of those who benefit from being part of the Kremlin system should be used to mitigate the losses caused by the Russian invasion,” wrote MEPs.
