Around 132,000 Ukrainians find jobs in Poland

Some 132,000 Ukrainian nationals have found employment in Poland since February 24, when Russia invaded their country, the Polish family and social policy minister said on Friday. Moreover, Poland accepts over 3.3 mln refugees since the war in Ukraine started.

Marlena Malag noted that, due to a new law on aid to Ukrainian refugees, simplified procedures were in place for their employment.

“By Thursday, as many as 132,000 citizens of Ukraine have been employed this way,” Malag said

“These people function very well on the Polish labour market,” she added.

According to the family and social policy ministry data, the largest number of Ukrainians found jobs in the central Mazowieckie province (28,400) and the southern region of Lower Silesia (14,100).

Since February 24, when Russia invaded Ukraine, 3,338,000 million people have crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border into Poland, the Border Guard (SG) tweeted on Friday morning.

According to the SG, on Thursday, Border Guard officers carried out 22,000 border checks on people entering Poland from Ukraine, and by 7:00 a.m. on Friday the number of arrivals had reached 5,400 people.
