Literary costume party at a Warsaw bookshop

On Saturday (June 25th) in Mała Warszawa culture centre in Warsaw will take place a costume party inspired by books, where guests will dress up as book characters or titles. This event is a part of the Big Book Festival that celebrates the café’s 10th anniversary and will last from 9 P.M. until midnight.

Big Book Festival is a three-day event with multiple author interviews, screenings, spectacles and performances inspired by literature. This year’s theme is inspired by the 1960 movie “Do widzenia, do jutra!” (“Farewell, See You Tomorrow!”) directed by Janusz Morgenstern. It represents the ten years since the establishment of Big Book Café, but also an outlook for the future.

Saturday’s main event is the literary costume party open to everyone. The guests should have their costumes, however, the café will provide materials to improve the outfits. In the end, the best-dressed cosplayers will be invited on stage, and everyone present at the bookshop will guess who were they dressing as. The creators of the most inventive and standing-out outfits will be awarded little presents.

During the party will perform Buslav (Tomasz Busławski), a singer, producer and songwriter who plays a lot of jazz and retro funk. Guests are welcome at Mała Warszawa (at Otwocka 14) from 6P.M., but the main event starts at 9P.M. The entry is free.
