Slovenia, Saudi Arabia and France will be the group rivals of Polish handball players in the World Cup, which will be played in Poland and Sweden from 11-29 January 2023. The draw took place on Saturday in Katowice.
Drawn from the second pot, the Poles met their rivals during a ceremony in the concert hall of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, which honoured the gala with live music.
The opening match, in which Poland will play against France, will be played at the Spodek in Katowice. In the first round of the 28th IHF Men’s World Championship, the competition will take place in eight four-team groups. The top three teams will each advance to the second round.

In the preliminary round, matches will be played in Katowice, Krakow (two groups each) and Gothenburg, Jönköping, Kristianstad and Malmö. The main phase will be hosted by Krakow, Gothenburg, Katowice and Malmö. From the quarter-finals onwards, the competition will move to Gdansk and Stockholm. The final will be played in the Swedish capital on 29 January.
