Around the 20th kilometre, the Peruvian representative decided to attack and broke away from Zdziebło. The attack turned out to be effective – Leon increased her lead with time and set off for her second gold at the Athletics World Championships in Eugene.
The Pole tried to chase her rival, but with 5km remaining to the finish line, she focused on defending her second position. She did it! Thus, Katarzyna Zdziebło became a two-time World Championships silver medallist in athletics!
