Volleyball Women's World Champs: Dominican Republic proved to be better

The Polish national women’s volleyball team started the match against the Dominican Republic perfectly, but the rivals were able to motivate themselves and win the next three sets. The Dominican women were better on Thursday.

Poland and the Dominican Republic are already certain of an appearance in the second phase of the tournament, but they have something to fight for, as group results against rivals who also advanced will count in the quarter-final game.

The Polish team was in the lead from the first action in the first set. The gap quickly grew until it reached 10 points (18:8). Surprised Dominican women made mistakes, while Polish players played practically faultless.

In the second set, the Dominican team mobilized themselves and started to play more accurately and precisely. The Polish team seemed to be surprised and eventually did not manage to build a lead and lost the set.

With every set, Dominican women became more and more confident. In the third set, they, of course, fought for every point, but at the same time were much more concentrated. On the other hand, Polish players started to make mistakes, which resulted in constant Dominican team leading.

In the fourth game, the Poles lost too many points. The Polish women tried to play ambitiously, but they could not concentrate enough to beat the opponent. It has to be said, the Dominican Republic was better.

On Saturday, Poland will play the last match in the group phase against Turkey in Gdansk.

    Poland – Dominican Republic 1:3 (25:18, 22:25, 21:25, 21:25)
