Marek Gaszyński, a radio personality, journalist, writer and author of more than 150 song lyrics, including ‘Dream About Warsaw’, passed away yesterday. He was 83 years old.
Gaszyński was a Polish presenter, journalist, and above all, the author of many texts of Polish hits. One of the most popular songs written by Gaszyński is ‘Dream About Warsaw’. Thanks to the lyrics and Czesław Niemen’s beautiful voice, the song was marked in the history of Polish music.
It was even covered by such famous music groups as Metallica or Coldplay.

Moreover, Gaszyński was the author of hits sung by generations of Poles, for example, “Nie zadzieraj nosa (English: ‘Don’t stick your nose’), “Gdzie się podziały tamte prywatki” (English: ‘Where did those parties go’). He wrote the lyrics for a total of over 150 songs.

Marek Gaszyński was born on June 14, 1939 in Warsaw. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology at the University of Warsaw. As a journalist, he started at Scout Radio (Polish: Rozgłośnia Harcerska).
Later, he started working at the Polish Radio. He prepared music broadcasts, he was also the author of articles devoted to this subject in the daily and music press.
