World No.1. Iga Swiatek won another match in the WTA 500 tournament in Doha. The leader of the ranking defeated Veronika Kudermetova and advanced to the final.

Yesterday, we informed you about Iga’s quick advance to the quarterfinals of the Doha tournament Qatar TotalEnergies Open. She was supposed to face the Olympic champion from Tokyo Belinda Bencic, but the Swiss withdrew from the competition. Thus, Iga advanced to the semifinals by walkover. Today, Swiatek has scored another victory!

In the interview for Eurosport, Swiatek said:

“I feel great. I was pretty worried about how I would cope with the conditions today. I played in a smart way and I’m happy I was so solid. It always takes a lot to win against Jessica, she’s a great player. We’ll see what happens, I’m not going to predict anything or overanalyse, I’m just going to go and play my best tennis.”

Swiatek was definitely a leader of this game and did not give any chances to Kudermetova to break through. Pole scored 50 from 67 points, which states for 74.6 % of the actions.

It means the 21-year-old Pole will play in her 12th WTA final. Swiatek will face Jessica Pegula in Doha on Saturday, after she came through a hard fought battle against Maria Sakkari. For both players, it’s their first final of 2023.

On Tuesday, Swiatek had a remarkable return after the Australian Open. She won against Danielle Collins 6:0, 6:1.
