On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Solidarity, 40 spectacular places and venues around the world are illuminated with the Solidarity logo or with white and red colors, the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk announced on Monday. The venture started last weekend.
In recent days, the Polish Solidarity anniversary was commemorated, among others, by occasional illumination of the statue of Christ in Rio de Janeiro, the Niagara Falls, Ringturm skyscraper in Vienna or Qutb Minar minaret in Delhi. The deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed that a total of 40 spectacular places around the world will be highlighted on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Solidarity. “This is accompanied by exhibitions, film screenings and articles in the press showing the heritage of Solidarity. An important element is also the planned unveiling of the Solidarity logo at NATO headquarters in Brussels,” Szynkowski vel Sęk said. The deputy minister emphasized that the attractiveness of the history of Solidarity lies, among others, in on the fact that “this is a story still unfinished”. He also noticed that this year Poles were also celebrating Solidarity anniversary by expressing solidarity with other people in need.
