Lichocka: The decision on media deconcentration is a matter of the coming weeks

When will the law on the deconcentration of the media market appear in the Polish Parliament? ‘The issue of media market deconcentration should be included in the reform package discussed by the leaders of the United Right (Zjednoczona Prawica),’ announced MP Joanna Lichocka, adding that the final decision on this matter will be made in the coming weeks.

The issue of media market deconcentration has been appearing in the public space for years as one of the possible reforms that the United Right government can implement. Work on the reform was discussed in the morning Signals of the Day broadcast by Polish Radio Program 1.

‘The projects are pre-written. No political decision has been made yet according to which the project will be submitted and in what shape,’ Joanna Lichocka said.

When will the decision be made? – editor Katarzyna Gójska asked.

‘In the coming weeks. The issue of media market deconcentration should be included in the reform package discussed by United Right leaders. The decision to do so should be made public in the coming weeks, along with a package of other reforms,’ MP Lichocka replied.

‘We should prescribe the solutions that are in force in Western Europe, France or Germany. This is what Europe has been using for a long time and this is confirmed, just like in France, by the CJEU judgment,’ she added.
