Celebrate the fusion of Korean and Polish cultures at the opening event of Korean Culture Months in Poland.
In the grand setting of the Column Hall at the University of Warsaw on May 14th, the festival titled “UNESCO Korean Heritage Months” commenced with an event called “An Afternoon with Korean-Polish UNESCO Heritage.” The celebration aims to acquaint the Polish audience with the beauty and depth of Korean culture through a series of events, meetings, and presentations throughout May and June.
Strengthening Diplomatic Bonds
His Excellency Ambassador Lim Hoonmin expressed joy on the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Poland and South Korea. Despite geographical and cultural differences, both countries have forged strong ties based on economic and cultural cooperation.
Promotion of Korean Culture
Director Dangkweon Lee of the Korean Cultural Center discussed South Korea’s government strategy to promote and globally develop Korean culture. He highlighted South Korea’s significant presence in UNESCO’s lists of intangible cultural heritage and World Heritage Sites.
Diverse Perspectives
The event featured speeches and presentations by various dignitaries and experts, including Prof. Marzanna Popławska, Agata Kurdziel from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Prof. Małgorzata Karpińska from the University of Warsaw, Dr. Katarzyna Zalasińska from the National Heritage Institute, and Dr. Anna Krochmal from the Polish State Archives.
The festivities concluded with a display of traditional Polish Polonaise dance and Korean Pansori performance.
