In June, the registered unemployment rate in Poland fell to 4.9%, a 0.1 percentage point decrease from May, according to the Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Policy (MRPiPS). This is the lowest rate since August 1990, marking a significant milestone in the country’s labor market.
Regional Unemployment Rates
Unemployment rates varied significantly across different regions. The lowest rate was recorded in the Greater Poland (Wielkopolska) region at 2.9%, while the highest was in the Subcarpathian (Podkarpackie) region at 8.2%. These disparities highlight the ongoing regional economic differences within the country.
Preliminary data from the MRPiPS revealed that there were 763,700 registered unemployed individuals in June. This represents a decrease of 12,900 from the previous month and 19,800 from the same period last year. This downward trend indicates a continuous improvement in the job market.
The Ministry also noted that the last time fewer unemployed individuals were registered was in late July 1990, with 699,000 unemployed. This long-term improvement is a positive sign for Poland’s economic health and labor market stability.
