Kansas City will be the second place in the United States where the exhibition “Auschwitz. Not so long ago. Not so far” will be presented. It is devoted to the history and importance of the German Auschwitz camp, the Auschwitz Museum reported on Thursday.
The exhibition, prepared by the Oświęcim (German: Auschwitz) Museum in cooperation with the Spanish company Musealia, will open on June 14 at the Bank of America Gallery in Union Station.
June 14 is celebrated in Poland as the National Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the German Nazi Concentration and Death Camps.
“We will open the exhibition on the 81st anniversary of the first transport of Poles to Auschwitz. This is very important. The exhibition, previously presented in Madrid and New York, shows the most difficult page in the book of human history,” said Piotr Cywiński, director of the Auschwitz Museum.
Union Station is a visual symbol and an important historic space in Kansas City. According to its president, George Guastell, the exhibitions that are hosted there “are extremely important to preserving history and mission”.
