    Senate Proposes Amendments to 2025 Budget

    During the second reading of the 2025 budget bill, senators proposed numerous amendments addressing wages, flood recovery, and disaster warning systems. Additional suggestions included increased funding for agricultural advisory centers and schools. Senators from the ruling party sought to restore funding for Constitutional Tribunal judges’ salaries and to secure raises for police officers.

    Budget Highlights
    The proposed budget outlines revenues of PLN 632.6 billion, expenditures of PLN 921.6 billion, and a deficit of PLN 289 billion, representing 7.3% of GDP. Economic growth is forecasted at 3.9%, with inflation projected at 5%. Notably, defense spending is set at a record PLN 124.3 billion, marking a PLN 6.2 billion increase from 2024.

    Salary and Benefit Adjustments
    The budget includes a 7% salary increase for public sector employees, including teachers, soldiers, and police officers. Additionally, PLN 24.2 billion is allocated for pension and retirement benefit indexation, with higher base salaries for ZUS and KRUS employees to support their workforces.
