Polish Ski Jumpers to Compete in Engelberg World Cup

Nine Polish athletes are set to compete this weekend in the Ski Jumping World Cup in Engelberg, Switzerland. The lineup includes Paweł Wąsek, Aleksander Zniszczoł, Kamil Stoch, Jakub Wolny, and Piotr Żyła for the men, as well as Anna Twardosz, Nicole Konderla, Pola Bełtowska, and Natalia Słowik for the women. The competition features two individual events for both genders.

A Change in the Polish Men’s Team

Piotr Żyła replaces Dawid Kubacki, who struggled in Titisee-Neustadt, failing to qualify for the final rounds. Żyła showed promising results recently, finishing fourth and 14th in the Continental Cup in Ruka. Coach Thomas Thurnbichler has put his trust in the experienced 37-year-old, who missed the season’s start due to health issues.

    Historical Significance of Engelberg

Engelberg has hosted World Cup events since 1980 and is known as the final venue before Christmas and the Four Hills Tournament. Poland’s Kamil Stoch has achieved two victories and 10 podium finishes here, alongside memorable wins by Adam Małysz, Dawid Kubacki, and Jan Ziobro.

The weekend’s program starts on Friday with official training and qualifications, followed by individual competitions on Saturday and Sunday. Fans eagerly await thrilling performances as the season heats up.
