Olympic champion Aleksandra Mirosław triumphed as Poland’s best athlete in the 90th “Przegląd Sportowy” poll, co-hosted with Polsat TV. Mirosław, who secured Poland’s only gold medal at the Paris Olympics in sport climbing, edged out bronze medalist Natalia Bukowiecka (400m run) and volleyball silver medalist Wilfredo Leon.
Olympic Heroes Dominate Rankings
Seven out of the top ten athletes in the poll won Olympic medals in Paris. Tennis star Iga Świątek, a two-time poll winner, placed fourth after winning her fourth French Open title but faced a temporary suspension following a positive doping test. Bartosz Zmarzlik, a speedway racer, ranked fifth as the highest non-Olympian, while Robert Lewandowski, three-time poll champion, finished eighth.
Coach of the Year went to Mateusz Mirosław, Aleksandra’s husband, while Team of the Year was awarded to the silver medal-winning men’s volleyball team. Legendary ski jumper Wojciech Fortuna received the Superchampion title, presented by Sports Minister Sławomir Nitras.
The Paralympic Polish team was honored for their inspirational achievements. The Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzów was named Event of the Year, celebrating athletic excellence.
