Sellin answered the question of PiS (Law and Justice Party) MPs – Andrzej Gawron, Mariusz Trepka, Jerzy Paul, and Joanna Lichocka in the Sejm about the actions taken to recover Polish cultural treasures lost during World War II.
“As a result of World War II, Polish cultural heritage suffered huge losses, especially in terms of looted and damaged works of art. It is estimated that Poland lost about 70 percent of its tangible cultural heritage during this time,” Sellin said.
He said that at the moment the Ministry of Culture was conducting over 80 restitution cases, incl. in Germany, Great Britain, the United States, Austria, and Tajikistan.
