“Poland is not a part of this war.” Prime Minister’s statement on the transfer of MIG-29 to Ukraine

The decision on the handover of the MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine is now in the hands of NATO and the USA – said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. He stressed the need for a unanimous decision on the handover of aircraft throughout NATO.

The Polish Prime Minister, who met with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer in Vienna on Wednesday, was asked at a conference whether the US side rejects the Polish proposal to hand over the MiG-29 fighters to the German base Ramstein. The Pentagon rated the proposal as “worrying.”

“Poland is not a part of this war. We want peace to reign as soon as possible. And NATO is not a party to this war,” Morawiecki stressed.

“A decision as serious as the handover of aircraft must be a unanimous and unequivocally decision of the entire NATO. That’s why we took that decision, and today that decision is in the hands of NATO, it is in the hands of the Americans,” Morawiecki said.
