A Crisis Like Never Before. Ruling Coalition Politicians Attack Hołownia: “A Disgrace”

A crisis has erupted within the ruling coalition—one the public has never witnessed before. Szymon Hołownia has found himself in the crosshairs. Yet another coalition politician has voiced criticism against him.

On Thursday, Sejm Marshal Szymon Hołownia paid a visit to the private apartment of Adam Bielan, a Member of the European Parliament from the Law and Justice (PiS) party. The meeting took place just before midnight in the Biały Kamień neighborhood of Warsaw. Later, PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński also arrived at Bielan’s apartment.

“I regularly meet and speak (as I did today, during a very good four-hour conversation) with coalition leaders. Occasionally—also with the opposition. In recent months, I’ve talked with Jarosław Kaczyński, Mariusz Błaszczak, Marek Suski, Adam Bielan, Michał Wójcik, and many other PiS politicians,” Hołownia confirmed that the meeting took place, but members of the ruling coalition are unwilling to let it slide.

Another post has surfaced online in which a coalition politician lashes out at the Marshal. This is now an open conflict playing out on social media as well.

“Kaczyński doesn’t come to the Sejm, so the Sejm goes to Kaczyński. At 1 a.m. Marshal Hołownia—this is a disgrace. And your explanation is an even greater disgrace,” wrote Tomasz Trela, a member of parliament from the Left (Lewica).
