Polish services are beginning to appear in greater numbers at the Polish-German border crossings. However, according to activists from the Border Defense Movement (Ruch Obrony Granic) who are present in the area, there are still many locations that require attention. “We have just found German police deep in the forest along the Polish-German border. There is a gate here through which migrants could be allowed to pass. We are guarding the border,” reported MP Dariusz Matecki.
For a long time, there has been a practice of transferring migrants—among them individuals from African countries—from Germany into Polish territory along the western border. This phenomenon has intensified in recent weeks, prompting the formation of the Border Defense Movement and other civic organizations that conduct patrols in the border areas.
The government recently announced the reintroduction of border controls with Germany, effective July 7. At the same time, the cabinet of Donald Tusk has issued strong statements and even direct threats toward citizen patrols operating near the border.
Meanwhile, activists and members of parliament present in western Poland continue their efforts in the interest of national security. Officers from the Polish Police, Military Gendarmerie, and Border Guard have also begun appearing at the border crossings.
The Border Defense Movement emphasizes, however, that many more locations still require monitoring by Polish services.
In a post shared on social media, MP Dariusz Matecki showed a “gate” located in the middle of the forest.
“We have just found German police deep in the forest along the Polish-German border. There is a gate here through which migrants could be allowed to pass. We are guarding the border,” Matecki wrote.
The site in question is located near the border crossing in Lubieszyn. Internet users have pointed out that there are more such gates along the border.
