An online debate is gaining momentum over Ariel Sz., a Polish People’s Party (PSL) activist from Kętrzyn who was arrested on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material. Commentators suggest that the party’s senior politicians may now seek to distance themselves from the controversial figure. However, a photograph has surfaced showing him posing with the leader of the Polish People’s Party (PSL).
TV Republika revealed today that Ariel Sz., a Polish People’s Party (PSL) activist from Kętrzyn, was arrested several days ago on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material. According to the allegations, the material found in his possession depicted not only the rape of children but also the breaking of their fingers.
As TV Republika reported, Sz. was a close associate of former Kętrzyn Mayor Krzysztof Hećman, a long-time leader of the party’s local structures. In 2025, he was elected to the District Executive Board of the Polish People’s Party (PSL).
According to photographs published online, Sz. also had the opportunity to meet the party’s most senior figures. TV Republika journalist Marcin Dobski shared a photograph showing the activist posing alongside Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
The photograph has attracted considerable attention online. Some social media users sarcastically comment that members of the Polish People’s Party (PSL) are now trying to forget who Sz. was. Others have drawn parallels with statements made by politicians from the Civic Coalition (KO), who denied knowing Dawid Kacprzyk – a doctor and Civic Coalition (KO) local councillor whose case sparked the South Hospital scandal in Warsaw.
