President Nawrocki to the Olympians
“I would like to thank all the athletes for the collective joy and hope you bring. That joy is so important for our entire nation. We also believe that you are exceptional,” Nawrocki said, expressing confidence in strong performances by the White-and-Reds.
The president also pointed out the scale of the challenge facing the competitors. “Of course, this is not easy. I am a realist. We know that winning an Olympic medal is a great honor and requires enormous effort. However, I am convinced that you will bring home medals – that is what I wish you with all my heart. I am proud of you as the President of Poland,” he added.
The national team, approved on Monday by the PKOl board, consists of 60 athletes: 32 women and 28 men. Poles will compete in, among others, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, biathlon, speed skating, short track, snowboarding, and alpine skiing.
The Winter Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo will begin on February 6 and run through February 22. It will be the first edition in history in which the opening and closing ceremonies are held in two different cities, as well as the first Winter Games jointly organized by two regions located more than 400 kilometers apart.
