    Accused of corruption Eva Kaili wants to sue Polish MEP Saryusz-Wolski

    Eva Kaili, the main heroine of the spy-corruption scandal in the European Parliament and former vice-president of the European Parliament, announces a lawsuit against a Law and Justice MEP. The issue is a statement on the program of editor Katarzyna Gójska. MEP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski said on the air of Telewizja Republika that Kaili “was under surveillance by the intelligence services of two countries” in connection with her contacts with Russia.

    Greek socialist Eva Kaili was arrested by Belgian police on December 9, 2022, on charges of accepting huge bribes from Qatar. Her lawyer Michalis Dimitrakopoulus reported in December that the defence had requested that the politician will testify using electronic surveillance but without being arrested. The prosecution did not grant the request. As a result, Kaili remains in pre-trial detention in Belgium.

    According to the latest information, Kaili intends to sue the Polish politician for his words about remaining “under surveillance by the intelligence services.” 

    “Former EP Vice President Eva Kaili, accused in Qatargate scandal, wants to sue me for claiming that she was under intelligence surveillance in connection with her Russian contacts,”

    MEP Saryusz-Wolski informed on Twitter.

    The issue is about the MEP’s statement in the program “W Punkt” on Telewizja Republika.

    “Eva Kaili, the main protagonist of the spy and corruption scandal in the European Parliament and former EP vice president, was under surveillance by the intelligence services of two member states in connection with relations not with Qatar, but with Russia,”

    Law and Justice MEP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski said in an interview program with editor Katarzyna Gójska.

    Kaili’s statement on the matter was published by the “Proto Thema” portal. Regarding the statement about remaining under surveillance by the intelligence services of two EU member states due to paid contacts with Moscow.

    “This is a lie, slander and seriously damages the personality of Ms. Eva Kylie. Appeal the above decision in court,”

    the statement reads.
