Ceremonies at the memorial to the 1944 Warsaw Uprising insurgents who fought in the Mokotow district of the Polish capital commenced Monday's observances marking the 78th anniversary of the city's revolt against its Nazi-German occupants.

After 155 days of the war, Ukraine will not rest until it has liberated all of its lands from the Russian invaders. Those in power want the Elbląg port to be given the status of a port of fundamental importance to the national economy, and the state treasury is to have control over it. “The state treasury's financial and capital involvement in Elbląg will bring tangible benefits to Elblag,” Deputy Minister of State Assets Andrzej Śliwka says. State budget revenues in January-June this year amounted to around PLN 263.6 billion and expenditures to PLN 235.9 billion, the Finance Ministry said. The budget surplus after June amounted to PLN 27.7 billion. Medium-sized and large companies earned the most from the state budget, with CIT revenues increasing by more than 40 per cent. This means that it is not inflation that generates the main revenues.

The Beskidy Highlanders’ Week of Culture is a major international folklore festival. It was initiated by cultural activists and folklore lovers from Wisła. It was in 1964 that Beskidy Highlander’s Week of Culture was held for the first time. It was a response to the need of highlanders to meet in a festive, friendly atmosphere, play music together, dance, share their cultural wealth and talk about ‘highland’ topics. As it soon turned out, Wisła’s idea inspired activists from other Beskid towns and so the festival began to grow.
