Jarosław Kaczyński stood at the Sejm podium and declared: “Among us sits the ultimate sadist”

“Among us sits the ultimate sadist, one man called Giertych. He’s his man, his lawyer, and he was the most abusive during the interrogation [of the late Barbara Skrzypek – ed.],” said the leader of the Law and Justice party (PiS), Jarosław Kaczyński, today in the Sejm (Polish Parliament).

At 10:00 AM today, the session of the Polish Sejm began.

Shortly after proceedings commenced, Jarosław Kaczyński took the floor. Speaking from the parliamentary rostrum, he called for the convening of the Council of Elders and for an extraordinary session of the Sejm to “discuss a significant issue—what humanitarianism means in a fighting democracy.”

“What is the relationship between this humanitarianism and sadism? On one hand, we have a ‘humanitarian decision’ to release a murderer, Ryszard Cyba, who killed one person and attempted to kill another, and came very close to succeeding. On the other hand, we have abuse of women, two ladies from the Ministry of Justice, in a vile, slanderous manner. We are now witnessing abuse against Mrs. Wójcik, and worse still, against her seriously ill son,”

Kaczyński declared.

He further added that “we are dealing with the death of the late Barbara Skrzypek, driven by a disgraceful interrogation.”

“Among us sits the ultimate sadist—one man called Giertych. He’s his man, his lawyer, and he was the most abusive during that interrogation. This is a very important matter—of the highest importance. We must answer the question: does a militant democracy mean the rejection of all the norms of European civilization, or is there still something left? I am inclined to believe that everything has already been cast aside,”

emphasized the PiS leader.

Tensions Rise in the Sejm

In a counter-motion, Zbigniew Konwiński of the Civic Coalition (KO) attacked Kaczyński, accusing him of having “the audacity to speak of the rule of law,” citing among other things, the pardoning of “his colleagues” by the President of the Republic.

“Your entire administration has been a denial of the principles of the rule of law. You want to manually control what judges do and say, what verdict is favorable to you and what isn’t. You’re stuck in the past—this isn’t the People’s Republic,”

Konwiński thundered.

Jarosław Kaczyński moved toward the rostrum, where Roman Giertych had already come.

“I was called a sadist by Mr. Kaczyński—a sadist,”

Giertych said.

“Yes,” responded the PiS leader standing nearby.

“Jarek, sit down, calm yourself,”

Giertych told him.

“I’m not on a first-name basis with you, thug,” Kaczyński retorted. “Get down, murderer,” cried out MP Iwona Arent. PiS politicians began approaching the rostrum.

Chants of “murderer, murderer” erupted in the chamber.

Deputy Speaker of the Sejm, Piotr Zgorzelski, who was presiding over the session, declared a 10-minute break.
