After 9 years of intensive study, a cardiologist and researcher from Jagiellonian University, Mateusz Hołda obtained the title of Professor before turning 30 years old. On July 4, he has achieved the title in Medical College Faculty of Medicine at Jagiellonian University in Cracow. Previously, the title of the youngest person has been accomplished by Prof. Krzysztof Sośnica from the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences at the age of 35.
Honey is a syrupy liquid that honeybees make from plant nectar. It is loved worldwide for its sweetness and unique flavour. People add it to many dishes, including Polish recipes. Some people say that Poland is a ‘land of milk and honey’. Today, almost in one in four households in Poland honey is consumed at least as often as once a week, and 7% of Poles claim to eat honey every day. Therefore, a sweet event called the Festival of Honey will take place in Piotrków Trybunalski on Sunday, July 24. This year, it will be 8th edition of the festival where people have a chance to admire and taste the fruits of the hive bee's work.
On Tuesday, the celebrations regarding 225th anniversary of the creation of 'Dąbrowski's Mazurek' took place in Reggio Emilia, Italy. Also, this year Poles celebrates 95th anniversary of the adoption of the Dąbrowski Mazurek as our country’s national anthem. An unusual visitor spotted by beachgoers at an unguarded beach in Mielno continues its journey and has been seen in Kotka, a city in the southern part of the Kymenlaakso province on the Gulf of Finland. According to STT uutiset on Twitter, the famous walrus left the shore, covered several dozen meters, knocked over the beater, and then lay down on the lawn on the private property. A fire brigade appeared on the spot. The Fire Marshal on duty informed that the walrus slept in the yard until late afternoon and seemed to be in good health.
Beskids Culture Week - Week of Beskydy Culture belongs to the oldest and the largest folk events in Poland and even in Europe. In 2022, the route of the largest cycling race in the country Tour de Pologne UCI WorldTour will not run through Katowice for the first time in 12 years. The route of the 79th edition of the race bypasses Katowice and the entire Silesian Voivodeship. It will start on July 30 in Kielce and end on August 5 in Cracow.
Even though the race walk took place in very difficult conditions, almost at noon and at very high temperatures , especially in the sun, Doctor Katarzyna Zdziebło managed to win a silver medal in the women's 20 km race walk at 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon. It is the first Poland's medal at the championships. Worlds' first gold in 20km race walk was won by Peru's Garcia Leon.

The Miss Supranational 2022 event took place in Amphitheatre in Strzelecki Park in Nowy Sącz last Friday night. 69 beautiful women from all over the world took part in the competition. Our Polish representant Agata Wdowiak was in the top 12. As the winner of Miss Supranational 2022, the jury selected and awarded a model from South Africa, Lalela Mswane. Also, joining the Panel of Experts, a Polish singer, a winner of 130 music awards, an activist and a member of Mensa Poland, Doda performed during the pageant.
Emilia Babska from Warsaw took up shooting in 2016 at age 16. Today, we can congratulate her on winning a gold medal in shooting at World Cup in Munich, Germany! She took first place in the R2 - Women's 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 group with a total of 248.0 and defeated the winners of the last Paralympic Games in Tokyo!
Chemists from the University of Warsaw in cooperation with the National Museum in Warsaw have developed a new method of restoring colours on canvas. It allows the removal of wax-resin mass from the canvases that comes from the past conservation works. This procedure allows the paintings to be restored to their original colours by using a special organogel.
On Wednesday, July 13, the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson visited children from Ukraine in Będzin and Czeladź. She wanted to see cities where Ukrainians found shelter from the conflagration of war. It was a great experience and the Duchess had the opportunity to talk with the warmhearted people of Poland. It was her third visit in Poland since war with Russia first broke out in March in the Ukraine. On February 24, the Duchess's charity, Sarah's Trust, sent three lorry loads of supplies to Poland after Moscow ordered its troops into Ukraine. A nurse from the Battalion Zośka, Anna Jakubowska, alias 'Paulinka' passed away aged 95. She was a Polish World War II combatant, community activist, and a participant of the Warsaw Uprising. During World War II, she was an active partisan in the Polish underground resistance movement. First, in the underground PET organization, and later as a nurse and liaison officer in groups later transformed into the Battalion Zośka of the Home Army.
