“President Karol Nawrocki presented the principles on which cooperation between the president and the prime minister in matters most important for Poland and the Polish people should be based. The Constitution, the president’s prerogatives, clearly indicates – the President will actively participate in public life” – said Paweł Szefernaker, Head of the President’s Office, after the meeting between Karol Nawrocki and Donald Tusk.
Today at 12:00 PM, President Karol Nawrocki met with Prime Minister Donald Tusk, at the prime minister’s request.
Although this was the first meeting between the two politicians, it did not last very long. Around 1:00 PM, Tusk was already at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister. Representatives of the Presidential Palace commented on the meeting.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, as you know, yesterday there was an important meeting of European leaders with US President Donald Trump. This meeting was organized by President Trump. President Karol Nawrocki took part in it. After this meeting, Prime Minister Donald Tusk asked the President’s Office to arrange a meeting with the president. The meeting took place today at noon and ended just moments ago. It concerned primarily international issues, security matters, and issues most important for Poles today” – said Paweł Szefernaker, Head of the President’s Office, noting that the conversation lasted one hour.
Council of Ministers. Date announced
Szefernaker also shared information regarding the date of the Council of Ministers meeting, as announced by President Karol Nawrocki during his address in the Sejm. “President Karol Nawrocki presented the principles on which cooperation between the president and the prime minister in matters most important for Poland and the Polish people should be based. The Constitution, the president’s prerogatives, clearly indicates – the President will actively participate in public life. He will make use of the prerogatives that are legally established for him. This was also part of the discussion. President Karol Nawrocki informed the prime minister about convening the Council of Ministers – something he had mentioned in his address to Parliament during the swearing-in ceremony” – he said.
And he added: “The Council of Ministers will take place on August 27. It will concern primarily matters related to the state of public finances as well as constitutional and development issues. These include bills that the president has already submitted to Parliament. In the first days – as he announced during the election campaign – the President presented development bills, bills on the Central Communication Port (CPK), and tax bills. Next week, there will be an official invitation, and today the President already informed the Prime Minister, and they agreed that this Council will be held on August 27. As I said – these were primarily security and international matters. The president also discussed the meeting of European leaders with President Donald Trump, which the media reported on yesterday” – concluded Paweł Szefernaker.
