Americans Sever Ties with Czarzasty: “Not the First Time Tusk Has Sought a Clash with Trump”

“This is not the first time the Prime Minister has publicly gone so far as to seek a dispute with American diplomacy and with President Trump,” Krzysztof Bosak recalled while commenting on Donald Tusk’s involvement in a conflict that is harming Polish-American relations.

The reaction of the American ambassador could hardly have been different. After Włodzimierz Czarzasty, the second-highest official in the state, publicly attacked U.S. President Donald Trump, Tom Rose announced that he would no longer communicate with the Speaker of the Sejm and was cutting off all contact with him.

Donald Tusk’s government had an opportunity to defuse the diplomatic crisis with the Americans, yet the Prime Minister joined the discussion, thereby damaging Polish-American relations.

Tusk is not without blame

Krzysztof Bosak emphasized Tusk’s responsibility on Polsat News. The Deputy Speaker of the Sejm stressed that the head of government had unnecessarily involved himself in the dispute.

“In my view, there was excessive nervousness on the part of the ambassador (Rose – ed.), on the part of Speaker Czarzasty, and on the part of the Prime Minister (Tusk – ed.), perhaps most of all. This is not the first time the Prime Minister has publicly gone so far as to seek a dispute with American diplomacy and with President Trump,”

noted the Confederation politician.

Interestingly, another deputy in the Speaker’s chair, coming from the ruling coalition, was also critical of Czarzasty. Representing the Polish People’s Party (PSL) in the Sejm’s presidium, Piotr Zgorzelski stated that Czarzasty’s conflict with Rose “objectively harms Polish-American relations.”
