The wife of the President of the Republic of Poland, Marta Nawrocka, met in Sulisławice with the Children’s Circle of Rural Housewives and Hosts. “When young people have a voice in their small homeland, they gladly trade the Internet for joint activities and learn how to co-create the future,” said the First Lady.
This is the first such circle in Poland. It was established to nurture respect for Polish tradition and culture among the young. “You are still very young, but creative and engaged. It is truly uplifting that you want to have an impact on how your small homeland develops. I thank you for this beautiful example of love for Polish tradition from childhood,” said Marta Nawrocka.
The children’s circle has been active since August 2020 as part of the Circle of Rural Housewives and Hosts. The group cooperates with many institutions and actively participates in events promoting folk culture, regional traditions, and civic education.
“We want the example of the children’s circle from the Wolbrom commune to inspire other rural communities across Poland. Because when young people have a voice in their small homeland, they gladly trade the Internet for joint activities and learn how to co-create the future,” said the founder of the initiative, Lidia Dobrowolska.
In 2022, the group took part in preparing and baking the largest obwarzanek (a traditional Polish ring-shaped bread) in Poland and in the world.
