Another Wave of False Bomb Threats. Schools Targeted This Time

Today, a series of false bomb threats was reported in schools across Poland. Incidents occurred, among others, in Ostrołęka, Gorlice, Bełchatów, and Środa Wielkopolska.

In May 2026, the media outlet TV Republika and the homes of its journalists (including its CEO Tomasz Sakiewicz) became the target of a series of false reports about planted explosive devices and threats to life. Emergency services were informed about alleged bombs or individuals supposedly intending to harm themselves. As a result of one of the false alarms, police entered Sakiewicz’s home, where his assistant was handcuffed. Today, another coordinated wave of false alarms has most likely taken place, this time targeting schools.

Fire service and police in schools after emails about a “bombie”

Several schools in Ostrołęka received emails that briefly disrupted school operations and prompted interventions by police and emergency services.

“At the time of the incident, vocational exams were taking place in one of the schools. The message sent to the school inbox contained information about a supposed explosive device placed on the premises. Due to the nature of the report, appropriate safety procedures were immediately activated. Fire services were dispatched to the schools, while police simultaneously conducted operations,” a local news portal eOstroleka.pl reported.

It turned out that similar incidents occurred across the country today – also in Gorlice, Bełchatów, and Środa Wielkopolska. In each case, the response pattern is the same: the school must be checked by emergency services to ensure there is no threat to students.

Police are carrying out investigative actions regarding those responsible for triggering the false bomb threats.
