Attacks on TV Republika. MP Śliwka intervenes at the Government Security Centre: “These are Eastern standards”

MP Andrzej Śliwka of the Law and Justice Party (PiS) undertook a parliamentary intervention at the Government Security Centre regarding the attacks on TV Republika. “Clear, detailed explanations are needed here, and I have the impression that the ruling authorities are doing nothing in this regard,” Śliwka said.

In recent days, attacks on journalists from TV Republika have intensified. Over the past hours, there have been numerous police interventions, with officers showing up at the homes of the station’s journalists, as well as editors from other outlets within the Free Speech Zone. Many of these interventions were based on reports alleging that either deceased persons were supposedly present in the homes of independent media employees, or that someone “was allegedly planning to commit suicide”.

Today, police appeared at the home of TV Republika president Tomasz Sakiewicz. Officers handcuffed the station’s president’s assistant. One of them stated that she was “detained in connection with a misdemeanor”.

“They searched my apartment without my permission and without any warrant. My apartment is also one of the editorial premises, so journalistic secrecy was also violated,” said Tomasz Sakiewicz on TV Republika.

The situation involving the handcuffing of Tomasz Sakiewicz’s assistant and the entry into his home was described by MP Śliwka as “scandalous”.

“These are the standards of third-world countries, these are Eastern standards – Śliwka said. – One has to ask whether these false alarms are not caused by the actions of politicians such as Adam Szłapka, who at every press conference attacks TV Republika, free media, and journalists,” he added.
