Robert Bąkiewicz has launched the Border Defense Movement’s protest in Poręba. He called on participants to mobilize and expressed respect for the police officers present at the scene. He announced a nationwide opposition to the EU’s migration policy.
Defending the Borders
At noon in Poręba, a demonstration organized by the Border Defense Movement began. Robert Bąkiewicz, who opened the protest, firmly declared that opposition to the forced relocation of migrants would be a recurring theme across Poland.
“This is our issue, and we will raise it across the entire country — opposition to the entire migration policy,” he said.
The gathering took place during the election silence period, a point organizers were careful to acknowledge:
“Today is election silence, and we must respect it because it also concerns the safety of this gathering,” Bąkiewicz noted. At the end of the organizational part, he announced a symbolic opening by singing Rota by Maria Konopnicka.
In his next speech, the leader of the Border Defense Movement appealed to a spirit of community, courage, and the defense of values dear to every Pole:
“We came here for you — for the people of Poręba, for the people of Zawiercie, and for the surrounding towns. We are here to awaken courage, to awaken that Polish nobility Jacek spoke of, to rekindle the love of freedom — and justice too, because today we must fight for it,” he said.
Bąkiewicz emphasized that the protest was not just a local event, but part of a broader nationwide grassroots movement:
“This movement of ours is, in a way, a people’s movement — a social, grassroots initiative through which we are capable of winning. We’ve already defeated enemies that once seemed invincible,” he said.
He also called on Poles throughout the country not to remain indifferent:
“Across Poland, we speak to all those living in other towns and regions — we call on you to defend what is most precious, what is most noble: your freedom, and your right to safety,” he appealed.
