Brass Festival “Moc dętych” Brings Music to Zabrze

This weekend, Zabrze hosts the renowned brass band festival, rebranded as “Moc dętych” (Power of Brass). The festival, which has been held for several years, promises a fresh experience for attendees with new features and performances.

    Neighborhood Concerts and Parades

Sunday will be a day filled with music, starting with neighborhood concerts by the museum’s brass band in the Kopernika estate, Mikulczyce, and Rokitnica districts. These performances will lead up to the grand star-shaped parades through the city, setting the stage for the main event.

The highlight of the festival will be the musical happening at the monument to the Mining Brothers, in front of the Coal Mining Museum headquarters. This event will feature a combined performance by brass bands from Wujek mine, Bytom (named after Józef Słodczyk), the Volunteer Fire Department of Rabka-Zdrój, and the Coal Mining Museum’s Brass Band. A spectacular 150-piece orchestra will engage in a musical battle, showcasing their talents in a grand finale.

    Heritage Seminar

Additionally, a seminar on cultural heritage will take place at the Coal Mining Museum on 3 Maja Street 19. One notable presentation will be by Marlena Hermanowicz from the Katowice City of Gardens institution, discussing the future of Upper Silesian brass bands.
