A video of a Brazilian man singing the Polish hymn “Bogurodzica” has taken the internet by storm. Joao Pedro, who has been learning Polish for only five months, amazed audiences with his passionate performance of the iconic religious song. The video was shared by Hektik Hektor, a Sydney-based vlogger of Polish heritage who promotes Polish culture through social media.
Hektor recently encountered Joao Pedro at a folk concert in the town of Kluszkowce, located in the Pieniny mountains. The Brazilian enthusiastically shared his admiration for Poland, saying, “Poland is the best country in Europe.” While he humorously admitted that his Polish is still at a “caveman” level, his efforts were clear in his singing.

Joao Pedro not only impressed with his Polish-speaking skills but also showcased his respect for Polish history and culture, calling them “a great treasure for Poland and its people.”
Hektik Hektor, who grew up immersed in Polish culture in Australia, expressed his own deep connection to his heritage. “I never felt fully Australian; Polish culture felt like home,” he said in a recent interview with TV Republika, reflecting on his journey to rediscover his Polish roots.
