Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of “Operation Tempest” and the Formation of the 25th AK Infantry Regiment
The World Association of Home Army Soldiers Circle in Piotrków Trybunalski invites everyone to a special event dedicated to the history of the 25th AK Infantry Regiment. The 80th anniversary of “Operation Tempest” will be celebrated on July 25th at 12:00 PM by the monument in Barkowice Mokre.
During the ceremony, participants will witness a reenactment of an ambush conducted during the concentration of units. This pivotal operation helped identify the positioning of Nazi forces in the Nadpilicze region, crucial for partisan activities and symbolizing the birth of freedom for future generations.
Additionally, a Partisan Raid “Pościgówka 2024” will be organized for registered participants. The march will start from the monument and lead through forest paths to the Educational Settlement in Koło, where an integration bonfire is planned.
Honoring the 25th AK Infantry Regiment
The 25th AK Infantry Regiment of the Piotrków-Opoczno region was the largest partisan unit after the fall of the Warsaw Uprising, providing shelter and the ability to continue the fight for freedom. At its peak, the unit consisted of about 1200 soldiers, embodying determination and the struggle for independence.
The event is under the patronage of Joanna Skrzydlewska, Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship, and other local dignitaries.
