Prof. Sławomir Cenckiewicz sharply criticized recent remarks by Prime Minister Donald Tusk that, in his view, undermine the alliance with the United States. “This is a man, speaking of Tusk, who is a kind of arsonist of danger. A man who, while saying that Russia could attack Poland within a few months, simultaneously attacks the United States, which maintains 10,000 troops in Poland,” Cenckiewicz said.
Prof. Cenckiewicz spoke during a meeting with residents of Piotrków Trybunalski, where he expressed support for Prof. Przemysław Czarnek as a candidate for prime minister. He assessed that, thanks to him, the Polish right could soon repeat Karol Nawrocki’s electoral success in future elections.
“A form of pyromania that must be stopped”
Prof. Cenckiewicz also criticized Tusk’s recent statements questioning the role of NATO and the United States in Poland’s security.
“This is a man, again, speaking of Tusk, who is a kind of arsonist of danger. A man who, while claiming that Russia may attack Poland within months, at the same time attacks the United States, which stations 10,000 troops in Poland,”
he emphasized.
He added that this represents “a form of dangerous pyromania that must be stopped.” “Przemek, lead us to victory, win. You must prevail, you must become prime minister,” he said, addressing Prof. Czarnek directly.
Let us recall that in an interview with the Financial Times, Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that “the biggest and most important question for Europe is whether the United States is ready to be as loyal as described in our treaties (NATO).”
On the day the interview was published, an informal meeting of EU heads of state and government was taking place in Cyprus, where security issues were among the topics discussed. In remarks to the media, the prime minister again stirred controversy with his words, stating, among other things, that “we must show ourselves, America, and Russia that Europe, Poland, and the eastern flank are truly ready to defend themselves.”
