A serious failure of cashless payment systems has occurred across Poland, effectively paralyzing the use of cards and mobile payment apps.
Problems in shops and service points
As reported by the channel “The Poland News”, the issues began in the morning hours and very quickly spread across the entire country. Users report that payment terminals are rejecting transactions or freezing during the payment process. The disruptions affect the most widely used systems, such as Visa, Mastercard, and BLIK.
The outage has directly impacted the daily functioning of people in Poland. In many shops and service points, customers are unable to pay for purchases by card or phone. Sellers are forced to switch exclusively to cash, which in many places is causing queues and disrupting operations. The operator Polcard confirmed the existence of the problems and stated that work is underway to resolve them. However, no cause of the failure or timeframe for restoring full functionality has been provided.
At this moment, it remains unclear what led to such a widespread failure. However, the scale of the issue suggests it may involve infrastructure critical to payment processing in Poland.
