Citizen at the End of the Chain. Tomasz Łysiak: “Let Him Dangle and Not Get in the Government’s Way”

Month after month passes, and nothing changes in Poland – the citizen, just as they once “dangled at the end of the food chain,” continues to dangle there in the eyes of those in power. Wherever you look or listen, it is the same.

The entire world is bracing for the consequences of an economic crisis triggered by the war in Iran, the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, and rising oil and gas prices. Italians, for example, immediately take the bull by the horns and confront the threats. If petrol prices rise so sharply, one need not be an economic genius – indeed, even a fool could see – that everything else will follow in price, and that in turn will shake the economy. So Giorgia Meloni immediately puts the issue at the top of the agenda – because action is needed, even if it means urgently cutting excise duty. With gas problems, fertilizer prices will rise; when fertilizer prices rise, food prices will follow… and so on. Who stands at the very end of this chain? Of course – the citizen. They must fill up their car and go to the shop to buy bread or cold cuts for themselves and their children. They are already paying a fortune for fuel, and soon they will be paying a fortune for food as well.

And what is the government doing? “Restoring the rule of law” at full Civic Platform (PO) speed… The citizen does not interest those in power; the citizen simply dangles at the end of the chain.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk went to his own outlet, TVN, where he claimed that no maternity wards are being closed, and when asked about the maternity ward in Lesko, he reportedly said that it had not been shut down. This is not true. It has been closed since January this year. The Prime Minister was called out for this falsehood by MP Marcelina Zawisza from Razem, who commented: “Did you hold those women in such deep disregard that you didn’t even notice? No jokes. Women from smaller towns are citizens too and deserve a dignified and safe childbirth!”

The point is that the issue of maternity wards, fuel prices, and the indebting of Poles under the European SAFE program are merely different faces of the same tragic farce, symptoms of the same disease: holding the citizen in utter disregard. Let the citizen “dangle.” And let them not interfere with those in power as they sugarcoat their positions.
