A well-known activist of the MAGA movement associated with Donald Trump, Charlie Kirk, was shot on Wednesday during a speech at a university in Utah. The man was transported to a hospital. Shortly before 11:00 p.m. Polish time, American media reported that he had died.
“The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!” wrote President Donald J. Trump.
Gunfire at Utah Valley University: Incident Captured on Video, Confirmed by FBI and Trump
NBC television had earlier reported that the incident took place during Kirk’s speech to students at Utah Valley University. In videos of the incident posted on the “X” platform, Kirk can be seen speaking on stage, followed by the sound of a gunshot fired in his direction. For a long time, the media did not provide information on the victim’s condition. No details about the perpetrator are available either.
The reports were confirmed by, among others, FBI Director Kash Patel as well as President Donald Trump.
Kirk was a prominent figure in the American right and a close ally of Trump. He founded the organization Turning Point USA, which, among other things, focused on mobilizing young right-wing voters. He also ran his own media outlets.
