“Poland’s energy security is the cornerstone of our sovereignty and the stability of our economy. It is coal, nuclear power and common sense—not the Green Deal written in Brussels,” president-elect Karol Nawrocki wrote after the meeting of the National Security Council (RBN). The comment that followed from former prime minister Leszek Miller was equally pointed—he addressed Roman Giertych, who, as Miller put it, is “wandering in the haze of electoral absurdity.”
Nawrocki at the RBN: “Coal, nuclear power and common sense”
President-elect Karol Nawrocki took part in a session of the National Security Council at the invitation of the outgoing president, Andrzej Duda.
“Thank you, President Andrzej Duda, for inviting me to today’s National Security Council session. Poland’s energy security is the cornerstone of our sovereignty and the stability of our economy. It is coal, nuclear power and common sense—not the Green Deal written in Brussels. Poland must be energy-independent!” Nawrocki wrote on social media.
After Nawrocki’s appearance, many commentators noted that he “walked in as though it were his own office.” Observers also pointed out that Nawrocki faced Donald Tusk eye-to-eye.
“Mr Giertych, your effort is wasted”
Former prime minister Leszek Miller responded to attempts by some Civic Coalition politicians—especially Roman Giertych—to question the election results. Miller reposted a video showing a handshake between Nawrocki and Tusk, adding:
“Mr Giertych, your effort is wasted. Capitulation is a fact.”
