Commemoration of the 13th anniversary of the Smolensk tragedy on Telewizja Republika

    Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Telewizja Republika invites you to celebrate the 13th anniversary of the Smolensk tragedy. “Let’s be together on April 16. Let’s show that we remember!”

Thirteen years ago, on 10 April 2010 at 8:41 a.m., the world held its breath in horror. The airport near Smolensk was the scene of a catastrophe that claimed the lives of President Prof. Lech Kaczyński, his wife Maria, and 94 people – representatives of the Polish state elite who were part of the Polish delegation to the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre.

The moment, called in a parliamentary resolution ‘the greatest tragedy in Poland’s post-war history’, will remain in the memory of Poles forever. For years, the memory of the victims of the Smolensk catastrophe has continued.

This year will be no different, although due to the Easter holidays, this year’s commemoration has been moved to Sunday, 16 April. On this day, we invite you to join us on Telewizja Republika for a special programme devoted to the celebrations of the 13th anniversary of the Smolensk tragedy:
