Controversy Erupts Over Nazi-Linked Patrons of Gdańsk Trams

Beautiful trams in Gdańsk have equally “beautiful” patrons from the NSDAP. Internet users are outraged.

“UNBELIEVABLE! I FOUND ADOLF BUTENANDT IN NSDAP RECORDS! Only a single page has survived, but it’s there! Butenandt was a biochemist and Nobel laureate. He used to be the patron of a tram in Gdańsk, but that patronage was removed once it became known he had been in the NSDAP,”

wrote e-Janusz Ch.

“That’s even better. Butenandt was a patron of the train; now the patronage belongs to Willi Drost. He is not only currently the patron of tram Pesa 1055 in Gdańsk, but he even has a monument in front of the National Museum!!! As for the much-admired in Danzig… Gdańsk, Günter Grass, who volunteered for the Waffen-SS, I won’t even mention him!”

wrote blogger, commentator, and enthusiast of historical press, e-Janusz Ch.

“And a third from the NSDAP associated with a tram (since Grass was in the Waffen-SS) – Erich Volmar, a collaborator (?) of Drost… He has tram Pesa 1052,”

the author added.

“Another figure from Danzig with an NSDAP membership card, whose memory has been honored with a monument. Residents also have the “privilege” of riding daily on a tram patronized by Willi Drost!”

concluded Krzysztof Puternicki from TV Republika.
